Crowding corrected into a straight, even smile
Invisalign vs Braces
In short: Invisalign uses clear, removable aligners — nearly invisible, comfortable, and ideal for most cosmetic cases (from £2,950 with us). Fixed braces are visible but occasionally have the edge for very complex movements, and work out at a similar overall price. For most adults wanting a discreet result, Invisalign wins on comfort and looks.

The difference
A series of clear, custom aligners you swap every week or two, worn 20–22 hours a day and taken out to eat and clean. Discreet, comfortable, and — with cosmetic-led planning — finished for the best-looking smile, not just straight teeth.
Brackets bonded to each tooth, connected by a wire that’s adjusted over time. Very effective, and occasionally the better tool for unusually complex cases, but visible, harder to clean around, and prone to the odd poking wire.
For most adults, Invisalign is the natural fit: it straightens discreetly, it’s removable, and — planned by a cosmetic dentist — it’s designed around the smile you want, often finished with whitening and a touch of bonding. Braces remain a strong option for a minority of very complex cases. The honest way to decide is a consultation, where the movements your teeth actually need are assessed — and we’ll always tell you if Invisalign isn’t the right tool for your case.
With Invisalign, Dr. Albert plans the final tooth positions by eye for the best-looking smile — not just teeth that are technically straight — and finishes with whitening and a little bonding where it helps. That’s the difference between straightening and a smile you love.

Common questions
For most cosmetic cases, Invisalign offers the same straightening as braces but almost invisibly, and you can take the aligners out to eat and brush. Traditional fixed braces can still have the edge for a small number of very complex movements. For the majority of adults wanting a discreet result, Invisalign is the more comfortable, better-looking choice.
Not really — Invisalign and braces are generally priced similarly. The aligners themselves cost more to make, but your chair time is shorter and cheaper; with fixed braces it’s the opposite — more appointments and adjustments — which brings the two out at a similar overall price. In the UK, both typically run £2,500–£5,500 depending on complexity. Factor in the discretion, comfort and cosmetic finish, and most patients feel Invisalign is well worth it.
For the vast majority of cases, yes. Invisalign now treats crowding, spacing, and most bite problems that used to need braces. The results depend far more on careful planning by the clinician than on which system is used.
The skill of the clinician and their treatment planning matter far more than the brand of aligner. That said, Invisalign is the largest supplier of clear aligners in the Western world, has been extensively researched, and has treated millions of patients around the world — which gives it a trusted reputation among dentists and clinicians.
Often similar — most treatments take 6–18 months. Simple cosmetic cases can be quicker with Invisalign, while very complex corrections may take a similar time whichever route you choose.
Invisalign is generally more comfortable. You feel gentle pressure for a day or two with each new aligner, but there are no brackets or wires to rub the inside of your cheeks and lips, and no emergency visits for a poking wire.
We focus on Invisalign — the discreet, cosmetic-led option most of our patients want. If your case genuinely needs fixed braces, Dr. Albert will tell you honestly and point you in the right direction, rather than fit aligners that aren’t the best tool for the job.
