The detail

What changes the price?

Composite bonding is priced per tooth, so the biggest factor is simply how many teeth you treat. Beyond that, a few things move the number up or down:

Number of teeth

There are no package fees — every tooth is quoted on its own merits, based on how long and how intricate it is to build. Most people treat the 6, 8 or 10 teeth on show when they smile, and because a full set is designed and layered together, the fee per tooth can work out slightly lower than a single tooth or a few isolated ones treated on their own.

Complexity

Closing large gaps or black triangles, rebuilding worn edges, or masking deep discolouration takes more layering and artistry, which is reflected in the complex-case fee.

Natural vs Hollywood

A subtle, natural enhancement and a brighter, bolder “Hollywood” finish are priced the same per tooth — the difference is in the design, not the fee.

Whitening first

Composite can’t be whitened later, so many patients whiten first and match the bonding to their brightest shade. That’s a separate (optional) cost.

The dentist

Hand-layered bonding by an experienced cosmetic dentist takes longer than a quick single-shade application — and lasts and looks better for it.

Location

London and premium practices typically charge more. Windsor sits below central-London pricing for comparable, hand-sculpted work.

How does that compare to the UK average?

Most UK practices price composite bonding somewhere between £150 and £550 per tooth, depending on the practice and the complexity of each tooth. Hand-crafted work — where every tooth is individually designed, layered and polished by hand — sits toward the top of that range, and central-London practices higher still. Our from-£480 fee reflects that individually shade-matched craftsmanship, hand-layered tooth by tooth, rather than a fast single-shade finish.

Is composite bonding available on the NHS?

No — composite bonding done for cosmetic reasons is private treatment, so it isn’t available on the NHS. The NHS only provides composite where it’s clinically necessary, such as repairing a broken or decayed tooth. Cosmetic smile design is always private.

Is it worth the cost?

For the right case, composite bonding is one of the best-value cosmetic treatments there is: a full smile transformation in a single visit, usually with no anaesthetic and no damage to healthy tooth. Because it’s additive, it can be repaired or renewed over time, and it typically lasts around 5–8 years before a refresh. If you want maximum longevity or a complete redesign, porcelain veneers may suit you better — compare the two below.

Cost questions

Composite bonding cost: your questions answered

How much does composite bonding cost per tooth in the UK?

Across the UK, composite bonding typically costs £150–£550 per tooth, depending on the practice and how complex the case is — hand-sculpted, individually shade-matched work sits toward the upper end. At our Windsor practice, composite bonding is from £480 per tooth, with complex or single-tooth cases from £580–£680.

How much is a full set of composite bonding?

A “full smile” usually means the 8–10 teeth on show when you smile. At our practice, a full smile design starts from £3,840, depending on how many teeth are treated and the complexity of the case. Your exact quote is confirmed at your consultation.

Is composite bonding available on the NHS?

No. Composite bonding for cosmetic reasons is a private treatment and isn’t offered on the NHS. The NHS only covers composite where it is clinically necessary, such as repairing a broken or decayed tooth.

Can I pay for composite bonding monthly?

Yes. We offer 0% APR finance over up to 18 months through an FCA-regulated lender, subject to status, so most patients spread the cost into a manageable monthly payment. The calculator on this page shows an example — final terms are confirmed at your consultation.

Why is composite bonding more expensive at some clinics?

The price reflects the time, artistry and materials involved. Hand-layered, individually shade-matched bonding by an experienced cosmetic dentist takes far longer than a quick single-shade application — and the difference shows in how natural and how long-lasting the result is.

Should I whiten my teeth before composite bonding?

Usually, yes. Composite is colour-matched to your teeth on the day and cannot be whitened afterwards, so we often recommend whitening first — that way your bonding is matched to your brightest natural shade.

How long does composite bonding last, and will it need replacing?

With good care, composite bonding typically lasts around 5–8 years before it may need polishing, a touch-up or replacing. Because it is additive — little or no natural tooth is removed — it can be repaired or renewed over time.
